CLERMONT, Fla. — Three Ukrainian brothers who are set to be adopted by a Central Florida family have been separated in Ukraine as they seek safety as attacks by Russia continue.
The Andrews family, of Clermont, said they learned 9-year-old Daniil has been moved west to a safer area of Ukraine, separate from his two younger brothers.

“We’re very happy that he’s moving to safety. I mean, that’s our goal. We want that for all three of them, though,” Breanna Andrews said.
Judy Winger, with CCAI Adoption Services, said they have 45 families in the process to adopt 81 children, but communication with those in Ukraine has been spotty.

She said one of their facilitators was killed in the invasion and there are concerns about food and other supplies.
“There are many orphanages that are not in the middle of that, but some of their ability to get resources are going to be challenged because roads have been blown up,” Winger said.

The adoption agency said some children have been moved out of the country, but even if that happens for the Andrews’ boys, there are a lot of immigration and legal complications that need to be worked out before they could come to the U.S.
