SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — Two men were arrested after they were caught placing skimmers on gas pumps in Seminole County, deputies said.
The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office said financial crimes detectives caught the men in the act of placing skimmers on gas pumps Tuesday at a Shell gas station near West Lake Mary Boulevard and Lake Emma Road.
Both of the men are facing several felony charges.

Here are some tips from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services on how to protect yourself from card skimmers:
- Take a close look at the pump.
- Pay with a credit card.
- Pay inside instead of at the pump.
- Choose gas pumps that are closer to the physical building.
- Check your card statements and sign up for fraud alerts.
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services said it inspects gas pumps at about 9,000 gas stations, truck stops and marinas each year. It said it has removed over 3,400 skimmers since 2015.
