2 Florida men found guilty of charging police lines, stealing riot shields during Capitol riot

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Two Florida men were found guilty this week on charges related to the Capitol riot.

Department of Justice officials said Joshua Doolin, 25, of Polk City, and Michael Perkins, 39, of Plant City, were each found guilty of civil disorder, entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds, and disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building a grounds on Jan. 6, 2021.

Doolin was also convicted of theft of government property, and Perkins was also convicted of assaulting a federal officer with a deadly or dangerous weapon and engaging in acts of physical violence while on the restricted Capitol grounds.

Officials said Doolin and Perkins charged at police lines and stole riot shields.

U.S. District Court Judge Carl J. Nichols scheduled sentencing for July 13.
