BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Two people died following a pickup truck and motorcycle crash in Brevard County on Saturday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened around 11:07 p.m. on US-1 (State Road 5) and Ruby Street.
According to a news release, a Yamaha motorcycle was traveling southbound on US-1, north of Ruby Street, when the pickup truck, a Toyota Tundra, made a U-turn and began traveling on US-1 ahead of the motorcycle.
Investigators said the motorcyclist failed to slow down to avoid the crash and hit the pickup truck’s rear.

As a result, the motorcyclist, a 19-year-old Indialantic man, and his passenger, an 18-year-old Palm Bay woman, were both thrown off the bike and died at the scene, officials said.
The pickup truck driver, a 54-year-old Melbourne woman, struck a guardrail and was not injured.
FHP says the crash remains under investigation.
