16-year-old killed in Sanford shooting, no suspects arrested

SANFORD, Fla. — Sanford police are asking for the public’s help to make an arrest in a shooting at a local apartment complex that left a teenager dead Sunday evening.

Sanford police were called out to the Stratford Pointe Apartments on Old England Loop around 6 p.m. Sunday after a 911 call was made reporting a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found 16-year-old Jamarcus Parker with multiple gunshot wounds. Parker was taken to a local hospital and later died there.

According to investigators, Parker was hanging out with a group of friends in the parking lot of the apartment complex before the shooting.

Police say a burgundy KIA pulled into the apartment complex when two people got out of the car, approached Parker’s group, and began shooting before getting back into the KIA and leaving the scene.

Sanford homicide investigators say they’ve tracked down the vehicle and its owner, but no arrests have been made.

Police say their investigation into the shooting is active and ongoing and ask anyone with information to call the police department at 407-688-5070.
