On Tuesday, Oviedo police released an updated arrest report with new witness testimony.

One girl says the 15-year-old suspect approached her and a group of teens at the dance with the firearm in his hand saying, quote, “I’m going to light everyone up.”

It was that new information that led to more serious felony gun charges for the student.

“Based on the witness statements and through the thorough investigation based on that we believe he had a gun and in one case pointed it at somebody,” Oviedo Police Chief Dale Coleman said. “That is why he has been charged with the aggravated assault.”

Coleman said what they don’t have is the gun, but they continue to look.

Police also continue to search through security camera video from the courtyard where the homecoming dance was held.

Oviedo High School is also one of the few schools in the district with a gun detection system called Zero Eyes.

The chief said it didn’t detect anything.

“Because of the volume of film and the darkness makes it very hard to get as good of a picture as you would like. We are still going through that, as far as we know, Zero Eyes did not go off, but due to the large volume of people that were there it’s very difficult to identify anything,” Coleman added
