LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — Emergency crews rescued 10 families from Astor in Lake County, an area prone to flooding, amid Hurricane Ian, Channel 9 has confirmed.

Channel 9 has learned that rescue crews are facing a challenge reaching additional families at this time because of rising flood waters. Two families are still there.

Astor is located near the St. Johns River. County officials said the flooding is worse on Tarragona Way.

.@lakegov tells me they’ve been able to evacuate 10 families living in the St. John’s River/Lake George area but flood waters have gotten so high crews can’t conduct any more water rescues at this time. Drownings are a concern, but no reports of any at this time. @WFTV
