1 shot at Publix parking lot in Orange County, deputies say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County deputies said they are investigating a shooting in a Publix parking lot that left one man injured.

Around 3 p.m. Friday, deputies responded to the Publix in the 10000 block of Curry Ford Road near Dean Road in reference to shots fired, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said.

When deputies arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound, deputies said.

The man was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Eyewitnesses said one man who was a friend of the victim told us he heard the victim arguing with the shooter before the gunshots but did not know the gunman. One person said they heard four or five gunshots. Another person at the scene said he saw a man run away and get into a waiting car.

Crime-scene investigators worked into the night looking for clues in the grocery store’s parking lot. A large portion of the parking lot was surrounded by yellow crime scene tape. Several evidence markers surrounded the white car.
