ORLANDO, Fla. — One person was killed and three people are in custody after a shooting in MetroWest, Orlando police said Thursday night.
The shooting happened at the Landmark at Siena Springs apartment complex on the 6000 block of Westgate Drive just after 6:30 p.m.
Police haven’t released additional information about the shooting.
Residents returned home after a day or work to school to a crime scene in their neighborhood.
“That’s surprising because this is a pretty quiet place,” said resident Kaylin, who did not want to give her last name.
The investigation appeared to center around a unit in the middle of the cluster of buildings.
It’s shaken many people in the area.
“It’s definitely something to scare you. You want to be wary in any neighborhood around here, you know, with all the crime going on,” said resident Corey River.
Police said the suspects tried to get away but were stopped on Westgate Drive and Kirkman Road.
Officers converged at the intersection and focused much of their attention on an SUV that almost made it onto Kirkman Road.
Investigators took pictures and marked the door of the vehicle.
Police said three suspects were arrested and taken to jail.
“Doesn’t surprise me, honestly, because of the type of people in this area,” said resident Arien Gillotte.
Police haven’t released any additional details on the victim or suspects.
Managers of the complex released a statement saying, “We are heartbroken to learn of this senseless act of violence.”
