VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A man died Sunday evening when his mobile home caught fire near Ormond Beach, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said.

The fire was reported at about 6:15 p.m. at 1115 Avenue F in a mobile home park, deputies said. The victim's body was found on the kitchen floor.

Neighbor Donald Condon described the victim as a nice and easygoing man. He said he would often give him a ride to the store and saw him twice on Sunday -- hours before the blaze ignited.

"I thought, well, I hope that there's nobody in there," Condon said. "I didn't know for sure what was going on (at) first. I thought maybe he'd had a heart attack or something. I never thought of a fire."

The victim, whose identity hasn't been released, was in his 60s. His mother lives out of state. Neighbors said they believe he had a space heater.

Although investigators haven't determined the fire's cause, they said it was accidental.
