Person dies in crash involving car, school bus on U.S. 27

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — A deadly crash involving a car and a school bus is under investigation in Lake County.

Troopers said the crash happened around 6:40 a.m. Wednesday at U.S. 27 and Great Egret Drive.

The bus was traveling eastbound on Great Egret Drive when it turned into the direct path of a Toyota, investigators said.

The front of the Toyota struck the back of the bus.

Troopers said the Toyota then traveled several hundred feet and came to rest in a retention pond.

The driver of the car died at the scene.
