WATCH: 1 dead, 5 hurt in boat explosion in Florida

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Dramatic video captured a deadly boat explosion in South Florida.

The blast was captured by EarthCam around 6 p.m. Monday in Fort Lauderdale.

A violent explosion happened at a boat dock before a fire broke out and spread to another boat.

Firefighters said five people were hurt, and three of them received traumatic injuries.

A sixth victim was reported missing and was later found dead in the water.

A nearby restaurant worker said he heard the explosion and ran to help.

“All I saw was the boat just explode, and the top of the boat went up, and then the boat, it came back down, and the boat went into flames,” said witness Tamer Dimiati.

Officials are still looking into the exact cause of the explosion, but investigators say the boat was docked near fuel pumps.
