ORLANDO, Fla. — One of the two officers involved in late Friday’s shooting downtown was released from the hospital Tuesday afternoon, Orlando police said.
“We are happy to update you that both of our officers are doing well with their recovery,” Orlando police said in a prepared statement. “They both still have a long road ahead of them.”
Daton Viel, 28, shot the two officers in downtown Orlando late Friday evening, spurring a manhunt across portions of Orlando. He was later killed by police after he shot at the SWAT team at the Holiday Inn near Universal Orlando Resort.
