Incumbent Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings was born and raised in Orlando. He has served as sheriff since 2008 and touts more than 30 years of work in public safety and service to the local community.
Demings cites a reduction in crime for each year he has served as sheriff. Demings also served as Orange County Director of Public Safety, from 2002 to 2008, and the Orlando Police Chief, from 1999 to 2002.
His wife, Val Demings, also served as Orlando Police Chief. She is currently running for a congressional seat. Demings has promised to target high-crime areas with his deputies, focusing on drug dealers and violent criminals.
