ORLANDO, Fla. — Florida reported an additional 5,143 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday.
Of those, 1,339 were reported in Central Florida.

The latest cases bring the total number in the state since the pandemic began to 2,021,656.
The state also reported 31 virus-related deaths on Tuesday. That includes seven in Central Florida.

New data shows that states that rushed to offer COVID-19 vaccines to larger groups of people have actually vaccinated less of their population than those that moved more slowly.
Despite the rush to get shots into arms across the country, analysis of data from the first three months of distribution suggests it’s not necessarily better to try to go faster.
