Election results taking toll on mental health for some

Suffering from post-election stress disorder? You are not alone.

According to a recent study, some Americans are describing their reaction to the 2020 election results as feeling completely numb inside.

According to the American Psychological Association:

  • 68% of Americans are stressed about the election.
  • 52% believe their mental health has suffered due to the election.
  • 51% anticipate the economy will worsen after the election.
  • 38% are losing sleep because of the election stress.

Mental health expert Dwight Bain told Eyewitness News that post-election stress can also trigger depression, anxiety and panic attacks, problems that add to the already existing stress.
