Orange County officials to discuss pushing back start of school year, other counties plan students’ return to classroom

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Several counties around Central Florida will be looking to finalize plans to bring their students back to classrooms for the school year.

Seminole County, Brevard County and Orange County are set to complete their plans that Channel 9 previously learned.

Channel 9′s Karla Ray learned early Tuesday that Orange County school officials plan to discuss pushing back the start of school to August 21.

Most district plans include face-to-face learning, online learning or a combination of both.

Osceola County will meet with parents and teachers to discuss their already approved plan Tuesday evening.

Monday evening, teachers and school employees sent a message to the state, demanding school reopen safely in August.

The letter requested a uniform policy in place, and said meeting CDC guidelines and sticking to a normal school year schedule requires more money and planning.
