Man bitten by shark near Disney’s Vero Beach Resort

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, Fla. — A 54-year-old man was bitten by a shark near Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, investigators said Thursday.

The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office said the man was alert and stable after he was bitten on the leg while swimming in the ocean near the resort.

Deputies said he was taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Officials said they don’t know what type of shark bit the man or how large it is.
