Unemployment applications
2:45 p.m. update
FedEx said it will make available hard copies of state unemployment applications at about 100 sites in Florida. Click here to find your nearest location or scroll below for a list of Central Florida locations.
The state has allowed those filing jobless claims to submit paper applications as a scramble continues to upgrade its overwhelmed unemployment compensation website and to bring in hundreds of people to handle phone calls about the application process.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said he spoke with Fred Smith, FedEx’s president and founder, about using the company’s Florida locations to provide applications after people ran into widespread problems with the state’s website.

"Obviously, if the website is functioning, that is going to take off pressure from the paper applications. But still, we think it is important under these circumstances for people to be able to have that," DeSantis said. "Given this time, not everyone has access to internet. A lot of the libraries are closed, and it’s not always easy."
State unemployment benefits can be as high as $275 per week for 12 weeks.
People must also apply through the state to qualify for federal stimulus assistance of $600 per week for 13 weeks.
Paper applications are also being handled at CareerSource Florida locations.

The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity is also working with local governments to expand the use of paper applications.
DeSantis is scheduled to give a live update on the state’s response to the pandemic at 3 p.m. Click here to watch him speak live.
