ORLANDO, Fla. — State health officials have reported 5,704 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 71 deaths in Florida. Read live updates below:

9:50 p.m. update

The Crayola Experience has announced it will close all locations “until further notice.”

6:50 p.m. update

The Florida Department of Health reported 231 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and eight new deaths.

The total number of cases in Florida now stands at 5,704 -- 5,489 of whom are Florida residents and 215 of whom are nonresidents, state health officials said.

6:30 p.m. update

Florida’s public schools will not reopen until May 1, Seminole County Public Schools said, citing the Florida Department of Education.

The school district said it will remain in distance learning mode through April 30 and its buildings are scheduled to reopen May 1.

“During today’s afternoon conference call with the Florida Department of Education and Commissioner Corcoran, it’s been determined that schools will remain in distance learning mode through April 30th,” the school district said in a tweet.

6 p.m. update

Volusia County Schools said its schools will remain closed and distance learning will continue until May 1.

It said all extra-curricular activities are canceled during that time.

All school district meetings will be held virtually, officials said.

The school district said it is still awaiting direction on special events, such as proms and graduations.

Distance learning started Monday at its schools.

Flagler Schools said it also will remain on its virtual learning plan through May 1 and will reassess at that point.

4:45 p.m. update

Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings and Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer are giving a live update on their response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Demings said there have been 293 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county, with patients ranging in age from an infant to a 90-year-old.

“We have not peaked,” he said. “Heed the warning of the stay-at-home order.”

Demings said residents should follow the order so as to not overwhelm the local health care system.

He said Orange County has the fourth highest number of confirmed cases in the state after Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.

Dyer said the expiration dates for building and open trade permits in the city of Orlando have been extended by six months.

He said the Orlando City Council held its first virtual meeting Monday afternoon and that it went well.

2:57 p.m. update

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said he does not want a cruise ship where four people died and others are sick to offload passengers for treatment in Florida.

He said said Florida cannot treat outsiders right now.

The cruise line said the passengers on board include 304 Americans.

DeSantis said Holland America should send doctors to treat passengers on board.

He also said he expects South Florida’s four counties -- Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Monroe -- will be on near-lockdown until mid-May.

The Florida Department of Health reported 523 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and three new deaths.

The total number of cases in Florida now stands at 5,473 -- 5,276 of whom are Florida residents and 197 of whom are nonresidents, state health officials said.

The death toll in Florida is at 63.
