Happening today: Florida legislative session begins

TALAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida legislative session will begin on Tuesday.

The Florida Senate and Florida House of Representatives will convene for the opening day of the 2022 regular session of the Florida Legislature in the Florida Capitol.

Major issues on the agenda for the 2022 session include writing the state’s massive budget and redistricting.

Gov. Ron DeSantis also wants lawmakers to send $1,000 bonuses to teachers and first responders and put a gas tax holiday in place for drivers.

The schedule for Tuesday begins at 9:30 a.m. with the Senate session, followed by a House session at 10 a.m. and a joint session at 11 a.m.
