APOPKA, Fla. — Gov. Ron DeSantis made a ‘major’ announcement from an apartment complex in Apopka Friday afternoon.
The governor announced that the Florida Housing Finance Corporation approved $75 million to distribute to the counties for rental and mortgage assistance.
DeSantis said Orange County will receive $7.26 million, Seminole County will receive $1.1 million and Osceola County will receive $2.5 million for affordable housing.

DeSantis also said that the state is working to accelerate COVID-19 test results.
He said hospitals have the capacity to handle additional COVID-19 cases and another shipment of Remdesivir will be sent to Florida hospitals over the weekend.
The press conference comes after Florida health officials said the state saw an increase of 11,466 cases of COVID-19.
Orange County has the highest amount of cases within Central Florida with 22,049 cases.

Some Central Florida counties have been issuing face mask orders, but DeSantis has said he has no plans of issuing a statewide mandate.
