On Thursday, the governor’s team responded. His office released a statement that read in part: “Woke Disney is now echoing Democrat propaganda and falling for the corporate media’s phony hysteria over a Florida bill that sensibly prohibits K through third graders from being indoctrinated with transgenderism and R-rated lessons about sexuality.”

If signed, the bill would ban discussion of gender identity and sexuality in some classrooms with young students.

Opponents call it the “Don’t Say Gay” bill, and worry it could harm LGBTQ families across Florida.
