Amber Alert: Missing Florida newborn’s father found dead in vehicle

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — Update:

Deputies said the father of a missing South Florida newborn for whom an Amber Alert was issued Wednesday was found dead in a vehicle in a rural area near Interstate 75 in Pasco County.

“There is no sign of the child,” the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post about 1-week-old Andrew Caballeiro.

Officials had initially said Andrew was believed to be with his father, Ernesto Caballeiro, 49.

Investigators said Ernesto Caballeiro was found at about 12:30 p.m. with a self-inflicted gunshot wound from a rifle.

Deputies said they found a pacifier and old receipts in the vehicle, but they have not found the baby despite an exhaustive, which will continue into the night.

Investigators said three women were found dead Tuesday in a South Florida home.

They said Ernesto Caballeiro was related to at least one of the women, but he was not named a suspect in the deaths.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call 911.

An Amber Alert has been issued for a 1-week-old child by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

It is believed the alert was issued in connection to a triple homicide.

Here’s what we know:

• Andrew Caballeiro was last seen in the 21900 block of Southwest 187th Avenue in Miami.
• Andrew is believed to be in the company of his father, 49-year-old Ernesto Caballeiro.
• The pair may be travelling together in a white 2001 Chevrolet Express with Florida tags KUSK23.
• The vehicle has a decal of “Nesty School Services” on it.
• On the back left door there is a decal of “Caution: Transporting Children”
