ORLANDO, Fla. — Central Florida congresswoman Stephanie Murphy was part of a bipartisan group of lawmakers who introduced a $900 billion coronavirus relief proposal Tuesday.
A member of the House “Problem Solvers Caucus,” Rep. Murphy says this latest offer was aimed at breaking the partisan impasse over another round of coronavirus relief.

We need COVID relief now. Republicans fail to grasp the severity of the crisis and their proposals are inadequate. It’s time for Democrats to accept this reality, instead of complaining about it. Let’s make hard compromises that help people now and fight for more next year. https://t.co/nYtr10f4cN

“There are a lot of proposals out there that are just trying to get the leaders to come back to the table and have conversations,” Murphy says.
The bipartisan proposal includes $288 billion for small business loans, funding for an additional four weeks of enhanced unemployment benefits, as well as money for education, rental assistance, transportation, the postal service, and child care.
“When we provide this kind of assistance, it is also an economic stimulus,” Rep. Murphy says. “Economists will tell you that the work that we did last spring to push out a series of large bills actually helped mitigate economic impact.”
The latest offer does not include another round of stimulus checks, even though President Donald Trump and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi both support the idea.
It's unacceptable that millions of Americans will lose access to relief they desperately need as the pandemic ramps up nationwide. Today Problem Solvers and Senators announced a bipartisan bicameral COVID proposal to renew relief. We must get it done ASAP. https://t.co/xoIZ6DRQIW

While the consensus across both parties to get something done hasn’t been able to produce an agreement, Rep. Murphy remains optimistic that another bill will be passed in the coming weeks.
“We still have a little ways before we’re through this pandemic...It’s the responsibility of federal and state governments to assist people through this tough time.”
