FDA delays meeting on over-the-counter birth control pill

The Food and Drug Administration has delayed its meeting with a drugmaker for an over-the-counter birth control pill.

The drugmaker Perrigo said Wednesday that the FDA has postponed its November meeting.

They were set to discuss Opill, a non-estrogen contraceptive for women.

Currently, the drug is prescription-only, but Perrigo has submitted it for over-the-counter approval.

The company said the government needs more time to review additional information.
