ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Three grade levels at Blankner School in Orange County are pivoting to virtual learning for a week following six positive COVID-19 cases at the school, the district said Wednesday.
Orange County Public Schools decided, in consultation with the Orange County Department of Health, that all sixth, seventh and eighth grade students will switch to LaunchED@Home until Wednesday, Nov. 10.
The district said there have been six total COVID-19 cases at the school, and that four of those cases led to 54 people needing to quarantine. Officials said the cases are linked to a cluster in the Conway area.
This is the eighth school to close or pivot some of its students to virtual learning because of COVID-19.

Boone High School is right next door, and teachers union president Wendy Doromal said high school educators are worried about the increase in cases.
But OCPS said there are no plans to close Boone at this time.
