ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A 3-year-old boy was fatally shot Tuesday evening at a home in the Pine Hills neighborhood, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies said Daquane James Felix Jr. was shot shortly before 9:30 p.m. at a home on Drexel Avenue near North Lane and North Pine Hills Road.
Daquane’s grandmother told Channel 9′s Q McCray that the gunman drove by her house and opened fire.

Daquane was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neighbor Zillah Hypolite told Channel 9 that she thought she heard firecrackers at the time of the shooting.
She said she didn’t think much of it until she saw the flashing lights of first responders and found out the child had been shot to death.
“There’s not even words,” Hypolite said. “It’s a baby. I mean, if it’s a grown person, but it’s a baby. It’s sad. Nobody should lose their babies. It’s too much.”
This is heartbreaking. @OrangeCoSheriff has just confirmed for us that a child has been fatally shot in this Pine Hills neighborhood. I’ll have another live report at 10:45pm. @WFTV #WFTV pic.twitter.com/SHW2C6F9q2
