VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Volusia County detectives are investigating the death of a man whose body was found near a public park in DeLand Monday morning.
Deputies responded to a 911 call just before 6 a.m. reporting the discovery of the body near South Delaware Ave. and Green Street, near Spring Hill Park.

The victim in yesterday morning’s homicide near Spring Hill Park has been identified as Jamarkis Frazier, 18 (DOB 9/15/2002), of DeLand. Frazier was shot.
They’ve identified the victim as 18-year-old Jamarkis Frazier. He had been shot, according to the sheriff’s office.
Volusia County detectives are investigating the possibility that Frazier’s death may be connected to a drive-by shooting that injured two people later that afternoon on Clara Ave., less than a half-mile from where Frazier’s body was found.

Deputies say they’re also providing additional patrols in the area.
