VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Volusia County detectives are investigating the death of a man whose body was found near a public park in DeLand Monday morning.

Deputies responded to a 911 call just before 6 a.m. reporting the discovery of the body near South Delaware Ave. and Green Street, near Spring Hill Park.

They’ve identified the victim as 18-year-old Jamarkis Frazier. He had been shot, according to the sheriff’s office.

Volusia County detectives are investigating the possibility that Frazier’s death may be connected to a drive-by shooting that injured two people later that afternoon on Clara Ave., less than a half-mile from where Frazier’s body was found.

Deputies say they’re also providing additional patrols in the area.
