Daytona Beach murder suspect arrested in Sanford after cross-county pursuit

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — A Daytona Beach murder suspect is in custody after leading law enforcement on a chase across two counties and diving into a pond to avoid capture.

Police say Jermaine Antone Jackson, 36, kicked in the door of a business and shot 43-year-old Warrick Williams during a card game Wednesday morning, killing him.

Jackson was stopped by Daytona Beach officers in unmarked units Thursday night, but he fled the scene, leading to a pursuit that would continue well into Seminole County.

Volusia and Seminole County deputies assisted Daytona Beach Police as Jackson led them down I-4 and eventually into the streets of Sanford.

A Seminole County Sheriff’s Office helicopter was recording as Jackson turned into an apartment complex and crashed through a fence before bailing out of the window of the car and into a pond.

Last night, SCSO deputies assisted @Volusia Sheriff's Office and Daytona Beach Police Department (DBPD) with the apprehension of a murder suspect in the Sanford area. The suspect initially stopped for DBPD unmarked units but fled the scene as the officers approached. The suspect eventually crashed the vehicle into a fence on West Seminole Boulevard and fled on foot. He tried to evade capture by jumping into a pond, but he was quickly apprehended without further incident. The suspect was arrested for Fleeing and Eluding in addition to DBPD’s warrant for second-degree murder.

From there, Jackson was quickly surrounded and taken into custody.

He’s being held without bond at the Seminole County jail for fleeing and eluding as well as the Daytona Beach Police Department warrant for second-degree murder.
