BLOUNTVILLE, TENN — A Sullivan County deputy is in serious condition after a suspect shot him in northeast Tennessee, officials said.
Sullivan County Deputy Steve Hinkle is being treated at a hospital, Sullivan County Sheriff's Office spokesman Andy Seabolt told the Bristol Herald-Courier..
The suspect was later found dead inside his home, according to authorities.
The suspect had barricaded himself in a house on Highway 394, which law enforcement had surrounded, WCYB-TV reported.
Several law enforcement agencies, including the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, were on the scene. At least one road near a Dollar General store in Blountville has been blocked off.
