KISSIMMEE, Fla. — An accused murderer who was let out of an Osceola County jail last week before charges were officially filed is now back in custody.
9 Investigates found that a mathematical error led to Jamond Lamb walking free from jail last Wednesday. A week later, officials said he turned himself in.

Lamb is accused of killing Nathaniah Fredericks at Coach’s Corner bar in Kissimmee on Feb. 28.
After getting arrested more than 1,200 miles away in New York on April 14, he was brought back to Central Florida under suspicion of first-degree murder.

But he was released from custody last Wednesday, after his defense attorney filed a motion saying Lamb should be released because no charges were filed within 30 days of his arrest as required.
By law, arrestees have to be formally charged by prosecutors within that time or the law says they should be released on the 33rd day.
His lawyer wrote that the 30th and even the 33rd day had passed so Lamb should be out of jail immediately.

Judge Mikaela Nix-Walker granted the request anyway.
Lamb was released, not on bond, but on his own recognizance.

The prosecutor filed a motion asking the judge to reconsider, saying that the court didn’t notify her of the request or the release.
She told the judge and defense attorney that 33 days would not have passed until this Monday.

The judge rescinded the order, issued a warrant and said Lamb would be held on no bond once he was taken back into custody.
Channel 9 reached out to the judge and Lamb’s attorney for additional details on the case but have not heard back. His arrest warrant has been reacted leaving no information as to why Lamb decided to turn himself in.
