ORLANDO, Fla. — A total of four University of Central Florida sororities have been placed on quarantine as a result of positive COVID-19 tests among residents.
UCF partnered with the Florida Department of Health in Orange County to place two sororities on quarantine Friday to help reduce additional spread of the virus.

The affected houses, Kappa Alpha Theta and Kappa Delta, had been operating at a reduced capacity.
On Tuesday last week, the Alpha Xi Delta sorority, where about 20 women lived at a reduced capacity, was also placed on quarantine.
In all, there were six positive COVID-19 tests among the residents of the three houses, UCF spokesperson Chad Binette said in an email.

The email goes on to say they decided to close the houses due to the level of contact with other residents they identified through contact tracing.
They stress the quarantines are simply matters of public health and not meant to be seen as punishment.

The Delta Delta Delta sorority house had already been under quarantine after two members tested positive earlier this month, bringing the total number of UCF sororities currently under quarantine to four.
While quarantined, students are required to mostly stay in their rooms. While outside their rooms, they must wear a face covering and obey physical distancing guidelines.
