1 person killed, another injured in shooting at Ocala truck stop

MARION COUNTY, Fla. — The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting at a truck stop early Sunday morning that left one person dead and sent another to the hospital.

Deputies responded to a 911 call from the Pilot truck stop on SW Highway 484 in Ocala just after 2 a.m. for reports of a large crowd causing a disturbance.

Investigators determined there had been an argument that escalated to a shooting.

One person was found shot to death on scene. A second shooting victim was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.

The sheriff’s office identified the deceased victim as 21-year-old Zion Willis.
