Disney’s D23 previews upcoming attractions, returning events at theme parks

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Disney’s Destination D23 event this weekend is showcasing upcoming attractions and other changes coming to its theme parks around the world and in Central Florida.

Here are some of the big announcements made at D23 this year:

• Disney released more details this weekend on how soon guests will be able to “save the galaxy.”

Disney officials said “Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind” will open at EPCOT next summer.

The high-speed, indoor roller coaster will feature the first-ever reverse launch on a coaster in Disney’s history.

The ride will also allow guests to rotate 360 degrees to experience different parts of its story.

• A sneak peek was released for “Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser” at Walt Disney World Resort. The new attraction will give guests an immersive experience as they become “the hero of your own Star Wars story.”

“Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser” is set to open on March 1, 2022.

• Couples can also once again say “I do,” with the return of Disney Fairy Tale Weddings.

• The “Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular” is set to return to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in December.
