Imagine soaring over 2500 feet in the air, above the entire city, where everyone looks like ants. The feeling of being on top of the world in the wide open skies is almost indescribable. This is what you can experience at Quest Air --- Florida's tandem hang gliding destination and the home of extreme air sports. I put on some wings and sailed through the sky in this installment of Central Florida's Hidden Gems.

Quest Air in Groveland is known as Florida’s extreme sports paradise and that motto definitely rings true. Here you can choose from a variety of different activities like flyboarding, and ‘Dragonfly’ discovery flights, but everyone knows Quest as the hang gliding destination.

For my first flight, I rode with Spinner Kindt, the lead instructor at Quest. He briefed me a bit on the flight procedure and then I threw on a helmet and went up-up and away! Quest’s hang gliding flights are possible thanks to the ‘Dragonfly’ aircraft, developed by the legendary Bobby Bailey. This small plane towed our hang glider up to 2500 feet and once the rope was released, we gently floated back down to earth.
During your flight, your instructor will let you choose how extreme you want your hang gliding experience to be. Some guests prefer to try out some tricks and tilts, but I was perfectly fine with smoothly soaring around, taking in the scenery. The entire experience is so surreal. You can see the entire city from up in the sky and with no motor around you, all you hear is silence. I almost didn’t want to land!
Now that you know all there is to know, it's time for you to create your own adventure at Quest Air--- a true Hidden Gem in Central Florida. Visit QuestAirHangGliding.com for more info!
Until next time,
