A movie theater chain known for its very strict no-talking and no-cellphone policies is opening its first Florida location in Orlando this year.

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema has announced that its Orlando spot will open sometime this year at Vineland Pointe, the new 450,000-square-foot retail shopping center at the intersection of I-4 and Daryl Carter Parkway. An exact opening date has not been announced.

The dine-in theater will feature a full-service bar and restaurant and around 942 luxury recliners with footrests across 10 screens. One of the theaters will house The Big Show, Alamo Drafthouse’s Premium Large Format screen that will include Dolby Atmos’ immersive sound technology and a laser projection system.

The theater will come equipped with a 35 mm changeover projection to allow both classic films and new releases to be experienced on celluloid.

“Our goal at Alamo Drafthouse is to be the best theater imaginable for the community. We do this by providing great food and drinks along with exceptional presentation and a diverse spectrum of programming and events,” Alamo Drafthouse founder and CEO Tim League said in the news release. “We can’t wait to make it to Orlando, especially my two seven-year-olds who finally want to go along on Dad’s business trips."

In addition to new movies, the Orlando theater will include Alamo Drafthouse’s programming that features classic films, documentaries, foreign-language films and its low-cost “Kids Camp” that raises money for local nonprofits and schools.

“Bringing this premium entertainment concept to Vineland Pointe helps fulfill our vision for a true experiential destination,” Bill O’Connor, CEO of O’Connor Capital Partners, said in a news release. “Our goal is to create a compelling mix of entertainment and retail to serve the needs of the community as well as Orlando visitors.”

The Alamo Drafthouse has made headlines over the years for its strict no-tolerance policy for talking or using cellphones while in the movie theater. In fact, a marketing campaign has been built around it. See one of their “Don’t Talk PSAs” in the video below: Warning: Contains graphic language.
