Here are nine things to know about the fundraiser and the programs it benefits:

  1. All donations on Tuesday will be matched dollar for dollar up to $150,000 by the Sherry Chappell Cooper Foundation.
  2. Before she passed away in 2018, Sherry Chappell Cooper set up a foundation with the purpose of funding animal welfare programs. Her widow and his family decided to make a gift of $200,000 from the foundation to support general operations of Pet Alliance.
  3. WFTV Channel 9 will be broadcasting rescue stories that were made possibly by the support of Central Florida’s pet lovers as part of the Day of Giving.
  4. The day will feature creative content like puppy and kitty cams, local celebrity spotlights, and more on your television and online.
  5. Money raised on the day will ensure that Pet Alliance will have the resources it needs to care for thousands of dogs and cats.
  6. Pet Alliance’s Pet Food Pantry has been in place for many years to help pet owners in need. But since March 2020 alone, more than 25,000 pounds of food have been distributed to help people restock their personal pet food pantry. Money from the Day of Giving will help fund this program along with many others.
  7. Pet Alliance provides low-cost spay/neuter surgeries and animal wellness through our public veterinary clinics.
  8. Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando has two pet adoption centers and three veterinary clinics: Orlando location Shelter and Clinic, 2727 Conroy Road Orlando, FL 32839; Sanford location Shelter and Clinic, 2800 County Home Rd. Sanford, FL 32773; Alafaya, and Clinic Only 12050 E. Colonial Dr. Orlando, FL 32817.
  9. Pet Alliance has initiatives in place to help keep pets and people together and to minimize the number of feral cats being born. Both of those things can help reduce the number of dogs and cats that need to enter the shelter.
