Barnett Park sees long lines for testing, no wait for vaccine

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — All day and all week, lines have wrapped around Barnett Park as residents waited to get tested.

The average wait time is more than three hours.

But on the other side of the park where the vaccine is being given, there’s virtually no wait, and never more than a handful of cars in line.

Shawana Glover said she has been vaccinated but still tested positive. On Thursday, she was in line with her 23-year-old son.

“I did have COVID, and now I don’t,” Glover said. “(My son) says he thinks he has symptoms. I have a father who has respiratory issues, so it’s something we have to be conscious of and make sure he’s not.”

She said the high percentage of those vaccinated put most at ease.

With recent cases of the delta variant spiking, and the new CDC guidelines recommending everyone vaccinated or not wear masks indoors in certain areas, Glover said today’s line indicates many people are now scared.

“It’s just very scary with the new variant out there what can happen to people,” she said.
