Daryl Matthews joined the WFTV Channel 9 team as a reporter in May 2023. He was born and raised in Philadelphia and graduated from Temple University with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism after changing direction from culinary arts. Before joining WFTV, Matthews reported in Greensboro, North Carolina, and Elmira, New York. He believes part of being a great journalist is the willingness to challenge yourself beyond your comfort zone and to never become complacent. In his downtime, Matthews like to bake cakes, listen to music and focus on fitness goals. He enjoys being a voice for communities and giving people a platform to express themselves and to share their stories. Matthews is excited to see what Central Florida has to offer and what he can contribute to the community.
