How Trump, Biden address the COVID-19 pandemic differently during rallies

A recent Pew research poll found that 82% of presidential candidate Joe Biden’s supporters say the coronavirus is very important to them, compared to the 44% of President Donald Trump’s supporters.

Experts said they believe one of the pivotal points of the candidates' presidency plans needs to be the pandemic.

Channel 9 went through their speeches at their most recent Florida stops after the state was hit hard with COVID-19 this summer.

On Friday at the Villages, Trump brought up the coronavirus 11 minutes in. Vice President Mike Pence brought it up 23 minutes into his speech during his last visit to Central Florida.

Biden spoke about the pandemic less than three minutes into his speech in South Florida earlier this month.

Vice President candidate and former President Barack Obama both got to the coronavirus within four minutes of their Orlando rallies for Biden.

The candidates' plans for the pandemic are different, but Dr. Ali Mokdad said something needs to be done fast.

He and his team at the University of Washington project what the upcoming days will look like for the pandemic.

His team predicts, with the way things are going, that by February a total of 386,000 lives could be lost due to COVID-19.

“We are very much concerned,” Mokdad said.
