Windermere rape suspect Darryl Patterson asks for bail reduction

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Update Sept. 6: Patterson has been ordered to remain in jail until his trial

A Windermere man accused of drugging and raping unconscious women is asking for bail before his case goes to trial.

Darryl Patterson is accused of raping at least eight women and recording the incidents, according to Windermere police Detective John Allen.

Allen testified Tuesday that they’ve identified eight women in the videos, but detectives are working to identify more women in videos.

Prosecutors argue Patterson is a danger to the community and shouldn’t be released on bail. Patterson’s attorney said his client is not a threat to the community, doesn't have any money and isn't a flight risk.

If the judge lowers Patterson's bail and he posts the money, he might be ordered to live with his parents.

Patterson was arrested in June 2016 and has been held on no bond. He has been charged with six counts of sexual battery involving two women.

The judge is watching some of the videos Patterson is accused of making and will make a decision about bail at a later date.
