DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — A waterspout formed Friday morning in Daytona Beach.
Viewers sent Channel 9 photos and videos of the waterspout.
Channel 9 certified meteorologist Brian Shields said the waterspout spawned from a strong storm off the coast of Daytona Beach.
"Fortunately, it stayed over the water and did not come onshore," he said. "The Daytona Beach Pier was temporarily evacuated as a precaution."

Waterspouts aren't uncommon in Central Florida, Shields said.
They typically dissipate quickly, he said.
