Belle Glade, Fla. — Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation and Commission posted a Facebook video of two bald eagles beginning nesting season with an epic battle.
The two birds engaged in an air battle before they took the wrestling match to the ground.
According to FWC, the birds remained in a standoff, locked talon-to-talon, for about two to three hours.
This bald eagle match took place at a golf course in Belle Glade.
Nesting season began Oct. 1st, and FWC said the territorial animals will fight until the end to protect their nests.

Welcome to nesting season!Welcome to nesting season! An intense air battle between two bald eagles turned into an on-the-ground wrestling match when these massive birds of prey fell from the sky. Officers Toby and Nasworth found the two birds with their talons locked together and initially thought they were dead. They were surprised to see the eagles raise their heads and open their beaks when they walked closer. For two to three hours the stubborn eagles lay gripped in a standoff with neither of them willing to be the “bigger bird” and release its grip. At one point the battling birds made a futile attempt to escape while still entangled, but needless to say, did not get very far. Finally the exhausted eagles called a truce and flew away -- right before our officers were going to put a jacket over their heads to break up the quarrel. Bald eagles are very territorial, and with October 1st as the start of the nesting season in Florida, they will aggressively defend their nests from intruders. Nothing like ringing in the new nesting season with a scuffle!
