TITUSVILLE, Fla. — Some Titusville residents reached out to Eyewitness News after they said their water bills had skyrocketed.
One woman told Channel 9's Julie Salomone that her bill went as high as $1,000 a month.
Salomone gave the city a list of at least three people who complained about their high water bills. A spokesperson for the city said they’re looking into the customers' accounts, but did not give a reason for the inconsistent accounts.
April Diaz told Eyewitness News that she can't budget her water bill each month because it’s unpredictable.
“They range from like $30 to $900,” Diaz said.
She moved into her house about two years ago. In April 2015, her bill was a little more than $30. Four months later, her bill jumped to nearly $900.
Diaz said one of her bills showed that 84,000 gallons of water was used in a month.
“I had a plumbing company come out here and told me if I used 84,000 gallons of water in one month, my house would be a sinkhole,” Diaz said.
After Eyewitness News began making calls to the city, a spokesperson told Diaz they would give her a $3,000 credit.
