MARION COUNTY, Fla. — A Marion County teenager who helped lure her ex-boyfriend to a home where he was murdered was sentenced to life behind bars a second time.
Amber Wright, 19, was granted a second trial after it was determined she hadn't been properly read her Miranda rights.
"Even though someone can be rehabilitated, I also believe that they should be severely punished for things like this," said Sonia Jackson, the mother of murder victim Seath Jackson, who was 15 when he was killed.
Wright said in court that she deserved to be punished, but she felt like she deserved a second chance.
Deputies said Wright, her boyfriend and several friends lured Seath Jackson to a trailer on 53rd Avenue where he was beaten and shot and then his body burned.
Jackson and Wright had recently broken up and deputies said he only went to the trailer because she had told him to.
"This was her choice. She is the driving force because no one makes Amber Wright do anything Amber Wright doesn't want to do," prosecutor Amy Berndt said.
Wright was sentenced to life in prison for a second time after her first conviction in 2012 was overturned because she was not properly read her rights.
"I do believe that she deserves to spend a lot more time in prison for what she has done to our son because I can tell you that Seath would have never went there without her," Sonia Jackson said.
Prosecutors said Wright's boyfriend Michael Bargo was the mastermind of the murder. He is the youngest person on death row.
