Pedestrian hit, killed crossing westbound lanes of I-4 near DeLand, troopers say

DELAND, Fla. — A 57-year-old Daytona Beach man was hit and killed walking into the westbound lanes of Interstate 4 near DeLand Saturday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The man, who has not been identified, was standing in the median of I-4 near the State Road 44 exit around 8:55 p.m., troopers said.

The man then crossed into the westbound lanes right in front of a 2013 Toyota four-door sedan, according to a crash report.

Troopers said the crash is still under investigation.
