Parking rules getting stricter at Kissimmee park popular with Pokemon Go players

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Hundreds of "Pokemon Go" players have flocked to Lakefront Park in Kissimmee to catch the digital monster, battle and power up at virtual Pokestops.

Police have been working to control the large crowds that have been going to the park since the extremely popular game was released on July 6.

Parking has become an issue that the city has decided to crack down on.

Parking for Lakefront Park will only be allowed at three designated lots, and anyone caught parking on the grass will be ticketed, the city said.

The park usually closes at 10 p.m., but the popularity of "Pokemon Go" has driven people to stay out playing the game until 3 a.m. or later, area residents said.

Police encouraged players who want to stay at the park after dark to always be aware of their surroundings and play in groups.
