Orlando bank employee caught stealing from customers, police say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — An Orlando bank employee was caught stealing money from his elderly customers, Orlando police said.

Police said George Sloan Jr. did it for months, until one woman caught on and complained.

Channel 9’s Field Sutton found out Sloan was arrested over the weekend.

A 16-page criminal filing from the State Attorney's Office accuses Sloan of stealing the money from his customers $100 at time.

Sloan worked at Urban Trust inside an Orlando Walmart store, investigators said. He no longer works at the bank.

"To find out that your financial institution, (which) you trust to handle and manage your money, would be lax enough to have someone in their office taking money or absconding funds from senior people, it became very frustrating,” a niece of one of the victims told Eyewitness News.

Court documents said Sloan was filling out “…withdrawal slips with the signature line 'phone' and not the victim's signature…”

Investigators said he deposited $12,620 directly into his account.

By the time the bank caught on, investigators said he had spent nearly everything.

Sloan told Eyewitness News by phone that he has no response to the allegations.

A bank spokesperson told Channel 9 she couldn't talk about the details of the alleged thefts.

She did confirm Sloan hasn't been an employee there since 2014 and that the bank repaid those customers.
