Orlando ambulance lifted from road cave-in, fire officials say

ORLANDO, Fla. — An ambulance had to be lifted from a road cave-in located in an Orlando neighborhood early Thursday morning, according to fire officials.

Officials said rescue vehicle 11 had its tire stuck in the cave-in just after 1 a.m. in the 1100 block of Soria Avenue when the roadway gave out.

The ambulance was eventually lifted and towed away.

There was some damage to the vehicle, but no injuries were reported in the incident.

Fire officials said the unit was headed to a non-emergency call.

City officials initially thought the cave-in was a possible sinkhole, until officials clarified sand infiltrated a stormwater or wastewater line, causing the cave-in.
